I’m working on my Between the Lines for episode 125 right now and [KINDA SPOILER ALERT IF YOU CARE I GUESS] it’s in the heads of the four Inners about Usagi and the condition she’s in when they find her.

I’m not at Rei yet (she’ll be last probably) but as I’m writing I’m thinking ahead. And then this scene hits me like a balled-up math test.

It’s from 127, they’ve just had a fight, and Rei notices that Usagi’s stabbed herself to heck sewing this backpack for Chibs.

I’m again struck by that third cap, Rei’s expression. Just all this love she has for Usagi right there. And how this is something she can DO. She’s been trying — they’ve ALL been trying — to help Usagi recover from Pharaoh 90, but there’s nothing they can do. Usagi can’t even talk about it. She has all this pain but they can’t reach her. Again, she’s fighting this battle alone.

Then this. You hurt your fingers. Here are band-aids. Let me put them on for you.

Rei is getting to DO something. Finally, after days of watching Usagi silently (barely) cope (and the parallel there between Usagi worrying about Chibi-Usa not sharing her grief about Hotaru, let’s appreciate that for a second), Rei gets to ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. And she seizes it. Just so happy to finally have the opportunity to make it better, to make SOMETHING better for Usagi, even if it’s this tiny inconsequential thing. Rei’s so desperate to be there for Usagi. This scene has just found entirely new ways to break my heart.

Oh my gosh people, be nice to your waiter/waitress, it’s not their fault that your food is cold or if it’s under cooked.  Be nice to the cashiers who are still training and can’t ring up your items as quickly as you want.  If a stranger smiles and says hello to you, smile and say hello back!  It’s just common courtesy, I don’t understand why people have to be so rude.
